2006 Ndhiwa Volunteer Project
Because of the amazing support of TBTGB patrons and volunteers we were able to raise almost $10,000 (net) and fund the following developments in a poor African village, Ndhiwa, Kenya.
The building of the Health Centre
Primary School: A teacher's house
Secondary School: Two new classrooms
Maternity wing extension on existing dispensary
Painting and repairs to existing school
Ndhiwa is a village located in Kenya's second poorest constituency, where poverty, HIV and a lack of infrastructure are everyday issues.
This money was specifically used for: Bricks, sand, cement, iron sheets for roofing, spades and mattocks, truck transport for materials, masons wages and enough medicines to treat approximately 400 patients at the medical clinic.
Special thanks to all the bands, DJs, musicians and drummers, fire dancers, volunteers, My Shout, masseurs, our generous sponsors, as well as Mark, Michael, Zoe, Andrew, Ruth, Liv, and Bron.

2007 Rainforest Rescue Project
Our 2007 goal was to purchase rainforest that is threatened with destruction to protect it forever. As many of our dedicated patrons know, we had an outdoor only event with unfavourable weather conditions on the day which lead to the difficult decision of organisers to officially postpone the event until further notice. None the less, supportive musicians, bands, sound & lighting guys, and patrons weren't going to let the weather stop the show from going on and decided to go ahead with a spectacular performance of musical festivities. Keen supporters rallied up a BBQ and although most patrons knew it had been postponed, many still arrived in the very 'rainforest' like amphitheatre. The event continued in a rainforest setting - literally, with rain - and because of the generosity of the few that donated, the organisers were able to cover costs and expenses associated with the event so we could continue on for 2008. This year's location has returned to the Northern Beaches where there is plenty of indoor and undercover areas should it rain again this year.
A big thank you to everyone involved - you know who you are. Without your practical support TBTGB would not be able to continue to grow and fulfill its vision. |
